The Montafon valley is, strangely enough, not very well-known among Dutch winter sport enthusiasts. Undeservedly so, because compared to Tirol it has a statistically higher chance of snow, it is closer and its winter sport offerings are certainly not inferior to those of other areas. The area contains the towns of Bartholomäberg, Gargellen, Gaschurn, Gorthipohl, Partenen, Sankt Anton im Montafon, Sankt Gallenkirch, Schruns-Tschagguns, Silbertal and Vandans.

The Montafon valley comprises six different skiing areas that can be accessed with one single ski pass. Montafon’s eyecatcher is definitely the area of Silvretta Nova, of which Gaschurn is a part. It has a hundred kilometres of prepared ski slopes of all difficulty levels and four deep snow slopes. The area is stretched out across two mountain ridges and is split by the Nova valley.

"Six skiing areas with guaranteed snow within 850 km from home”

In combination with the high snow chance, this area is very interesting for both regular skiers and cross-country skiers. The many restaurants (some with live music) that are situated right next to the slope offer some well-deserved relaxation in between or after skiing.

Snowboarders will enjoy Montafon

Ski safari enthusiasts can embark on beautiful ski tours from Partenen and Gargellen. Snowboarders can make the two-day trip to the Piz Buintop or enjoy the 100-metre half pipe. Partenen is primarily visited by snowboarders for its half pipe and its beginner-friendliness.

Mogul skiing and off-track
Bartholomäberg offers highly diverse slopes, and with its 46 km of slopes, the Hochjoch portion has many blue slopes interconnected by one red one, and also has a black slope for advanced skiers. Mogul slopes and beautiful deep snow slopes lie in wait for the fanatic.

Much cross-country
All these parts together with Silbertal (quiet, high up, easy slopes and a number of deep snow slopes) and Sankt Gallenkirch (a quiet part primarily reserved for cross-country skiers and beginners and also the starting point of adventurous ski tours) form the Montafon area.
