1. What kind of holiday is a Catered Chalet holiday?

The nights are becoming shorter, the heating is back on and you need to dig up your winter clothes again! Are you already excited for your winter vacation?

Let us take you on a mental journey...

After a car ride of about a 1000 km, you arrive at your destination. You open the door to the chalet and the first thing you notice is the scent of freshly-made coffee. After you’ve hung up your coats and brought your stuff to your room, a cup of coffee will be waiting for you in the Stube. There, you meet our friendly Dutch host/hostess. He or she will tell you all about the ins and outs of the town and of course the skiing area.

After your coffee you can take your time to unpack, relax for a bit in the Stube and then it’s time for dinner. And there's no need to do groceries! Because for 6 of the 7 nights of your stay, we’ve taken care of dinner in the form of a 3-course meal mostly served in a nearby restaurant. Over dinner you already talk about where to go tomorrow! You can linger after dinner because you won’t have to head into the kitchen to clean. After dinner there will be coffee, after which you can stretch out and read a book, play a game with each other... no obligations, do anything you like!

When you come downstairs the next morning, the host/hostess has set the table and gotten fresh bread. We won’t let you walk out the door without a hearty breakfast! From 16:00 onwards there’s tea, because we’re not about to forget your inner peace! In the cosy Stube there’s plenty of time to exchange adventure stories with our skiing companions, all of whom will have descended gorgeous slopes of their own.

Before you know it, it’s time to freshen up again, because the restaurant expects you...

2. What is included in the arrangement price?

Your week arrangement is 7 nights including extensive breakfast. Upon your return from the slopes in the afternoon, a cup of tea will be waiting for you in the Stube. Your stay includes 6 3-course dinners, which are usually served in a nearby restaurant. After dinner another fresh cup of coffee/tea will be served in the Stube. Your arrangement commences with dinner on the day of arrival and ends after breakfast on the day of departure.

One or two carefully selected Dutch Châtel hosts/hostesses will be staying at the chalet. Apart from silently taking care of household tasks and preparing coffee/tea, they are also your hosts and can answer all your questions. You won’t have to look for them as they are staying right in the chalet with you. One day each week, the chalet staff is off-duty after breakfast. On this day, no dinner will be served in the nearby restaurant or chalet.

Upon arrival at the chalet, your beds will be made and fresh towels will be available (2 per person). The towels are changed halfway through the week for a week-long stay. The arrangement price includes daily cleaning (except for the staff’s day off), final cleaning and gas/water/lighting.

You will have to arrange your own transport. Should you need additional information on reaching your destination by plane, bus or train, you can always contact us.

Your arrangement does not include (apart from ski passes, equipment rentals and for instance skiing lessons) lunch, personal expenses, travel and cancellation insurance, tourist tax. Tourist tax tariffs vary according to destination, but are approximately EUR 2.- per person per day.

3. Is it possible to have chalet staff babysit our children?

If you wish to go out skiing during the day and leave your children with our chalet staff, you should inquire whether this is possible for your particular chalet. If there are no babysit services available in the chalet itself, then we will look for possibilities elsewhere in town.

In many cases, it is possible for our chalet staff to keep an eye on your children while you go out for dinner in the nearby restaurant.

4. When is the chalet staff’s day off?

One day halfway through the week, our chalet staff has a day off. On this day, breakfast is still served but staff is off-duty after that. On this day, no dinner will be served in the nearby restaurant or chalet itself. Unfortunately, it is not possible for you to do your own cooking in the chalet’s kitchen while the staff is off-duty.

5. Can we, as guests, make use of the chalet’s kitchen?

Unfortunately, you are not allowed to make use of the chalet’s kitchen; this is private space reserved for the chalet staff. However, we can put the coffee maker, water kettle and microwave in the Stube for you should you wish to stay indoors for the day, so that you can make your own cup of coffee or warm up a bottle.

6. May we, as guests, have lunch in the chalet?

Your stay in the chalet is on a half-board basis, meaning lunch is not included. You are also not allowed to save bread rolls from breakfast and prepare them for lunch later. If you wish to have lunch in the chalet, you can order a lunch from our chalet staff, which consists of 2 bread rolls with a topping of choice, a piece of fruit and a candy bar. This lunch is priced at 4 euros. Naturally, you may consume this lunch in the chalet if you wish.

7. Does the chalet come equipped with a children’s bed and highchair?

By default, every chalet comes equipped with 1 child-size bed and 1 highchair. If you wish to make use of the bed, we ask you to mention this when booking. We also ask you to provide your own blanket and sheet.

8. Does the chalet have a laundry machine?

Every chalet has a laundry machine; however, it is for private use by staff only. Should an unexpected, urgent need arise to wash a piece of clothing, you can always discuss this with chalet staff.

9. Can I take a pet with me?

All our chalets have FREE Wifi connection.

11. Is smoking allowed in the chalet?

Smoking is never allowed in one of our chalets.

12. Is it possible to book a short ski break?

It is usually perfectly possible to book a short ski break with us. On our website, you’ll find a number of options under the heading ‘Short ski’. If you were thinking of a date for a short ski break that is not listed on our website, we can always see if we can arrange something. You should take into account that normally, all our arrangements run from Sunday to Sunday. It is, of course, possible to book a shorter stay, but only when it does not cover two different weeks, as would be the case with for instance a stay from Thursday to monday. We can offer you a stay from Wednesday to Sunday or from Sunday to Thursday, for example. If you are interested, do not hesitate to call or email us!

13. Is it possible to book a chalet without catering?

You can also have us bill your entire group at once, but have every group member pay their contribution separately by including the invoice number with their payment.

18. What is the price for booking one or multiple rooms in a chalet (for a week-long arrangement)?

The arrangement price is the price per person per week for 2 people in a 2-person room with shower and toilet. We count children from the age of 2 years. Babies (aged 0 to 1) stay for free.
There are a number of chalets in which there rooms with and without shower and toilet. For rooms without a shower/toilet, there is a communal bathroom on the same floor. If you book a room without shower/toilet, you will receive a discount provided you are 2 people staying in a 2-person room.

20. What is the price for booking an entire chalet (for a week-long arrangement)?

We charge a price which is different per chalet. For booking an entire chalet, we assume a minimum number of guests count (this count is listed on our website) for whom the arrangement price is charged. We count from the age of 2 years, babies (aged 0 to 1) stay for free (excluding dinner). If fewer than the minimum amount of people stay, you will pay for the minimum. If the booking includes rooms with a communal shower/toilet, you will receive a discount for every such room. When dinner is included, children (aged 2 to 11) will receive a discount because of the reduced price of children’s menus.

A number of our chalets contain one or multiple 1-person rooms. If the chalet does not contain 1-person rooms, is it possible to book a 2-person room for only one person.
