Europa Sportregion

Nobody can call themselves a true winter sports enthusiast without having down the following three things: a descent along the deep snow of the Schmittenhöhe, a romantic moonlight sleigh ride on the Guggenbichl and having “Kaiserschmarren” on the Hochzelleralm.

Apart from skiing, this area also has plenty of hiking opportunities. The 130 km of slopes have something to offer for everyone. Also of importance is the fact that the region has a very high chance of snow thanks to the Kitzsteinhorn Glacier, the summit of which is slightly higher than 3200 metres. For snowboarders and freestylers there is a fun park on the Schmittenhöhe including a boarder cross park, and on the glacier is a second half pipe that meets competition standards.

"Atmospheric town square with many cafes"

When there is enough snow, cross-country skiers can enjoy around 230 km of trails. Schüttdorf is the starting point of the 200 km Pinzga trail, among others. In

January and February you can even ski across the Zell lake! This area also has plenty to offer for hikers.
Zell am See is a beautiful authentic town. The atmospheric centre is car free. The town has numerous cosy terraces, some of which afford a view of the lake.

There is a cinema, swimming pool, tennis hall, squash court, skating rink, toboggan track, climbing wall, stable and a paragliding school. When the Zellersee freezes over you can skate across it. You can also do some great shopping in this town.

Diverse after-skiing activities

In Zell am See, the after-skiing scene is large and diverse. The town has over 90 restaurants, twenty cafes and six clubs. The bar ‘Crazy Daisy’ and the club ‘Diele’ are highly popular among young people.

Challenging descents

The Maiskogel and Schmittenhöhe slopes are highly appropriate for children and less-experienced skiers. Advanced skiers can get their kick from the Schüttabfahrt and Trassabfahrt in Zell am See.

Off-track and mogul skiing

Beginning and semi-advanced off-track skiers opt for the Langwied descent on the Kaprun glacier. On this stretch of unprepared slope, which is right next to the regular slope, you can even
