Skiwelt Amadé

Großarl is a beloved winter sports town of which the main appeal is the old-fashioned, cosy atmosphere. Moreover, it is highly child-friendly and service-oriented and makes everybody feel right at home. You’ll find no mile-long queues at the lifts. You won’t need a car either, because in Großarl all facilities are at walking distance, including the lift.

The skiing area of Großarl-Dorfgastein offers a large variety of slopes. For beginning skiers as well as experienced ones there are challenges to be found here. Even if snow is a bit lacking during the season, the slopes are well taken care of to get them to optimal conditions. This way, you can pretty much always ski all the way down the valley.

Skischaukel Dorfgastein-Großarltal, as the name suggests, is spread out around the towns of Dorfgastein and Großarl. It is a small-scale but highly varied skiing area with 80 kilometres of slopes and a total of 24 lifts. Snowboarders can go all out in the fun park, which has a half pipe of 90 metres! The area has earned the title of Salzburgerland ‘Skigebiete-Test’ not once but twice. This fact alone shows that it is definitely worth checking out.

Starting point for cross-country skiers

There are various starting points from which cross-country skiers can embark on a beautiful trail. For instance, there is a great cross-country route which leads to an outskirt of the famous Hohe-Tauern natural park, which is found beyond Hüttschlag. There is a total 32 kilometres’ worth of maintained cross-country trails.

Ultra modern gondola line

There is an ultra modern gondola line nearby the Bergzeit hotel that takes skiers to an altitude of more than 2000 metres in a jiffy. From there they can descend along the beautiful and wide slopes, which are perpetually in excellent condition. Along the way they can take a breather at one of the ski lodges and restaurants.

Gasteintertal and Skiwelt Amadé

The neighbouring Gasteinertal (with the famous towns of Bad Hofgastein and Badgastein) adds another 120 km of slopes up to an altitude of 2650 m. You can also take the free shuttle bus from Großarl to St. Johann/Alpendorf, and from there ski on to, for example, Wagrain or Flachau.
