Practical information

Below you will find an overview of the most frequently asked questions. If your question is not listed, please feel free to call or email us!

    1. What kind of holiday is a catered chalet holiday?

"Experience Winter in the Alps – Skiing, Relaxation, and Enjoyment"

The days are getting shorter, the mountains are slowly transforming into a white winter wonderland, and the anticipation begins: it’s time to look forward to your winter sports holiday in the Alps. Whether you come to ski, snowboard, hike, or simply relax – here you will experience winter at its finest.

Imagine: you arrive at your chalet in the Alps and are welcomed by a warm atmosphere and the aroma of fresh coffee. In the cozy stube, you meet your host or hostess, who is happy to tell you about the village, the slopes, and the most beautiful spots in the area. The tone is immediately set: hospitality, tranquility, and comfort are central here.

"Breakfast Included – A Perfect Start to the Day"

Every morning, you start the day with an extensive breakfast buffet. Freshly baked rolls, local cheeses and cold cuts, fruit, yogurt, coffee, and tea – everything is ready for you. This way, you can hit the slopes or head into the mountains full of energy.

"Cozy Afternoon Atmosphere – Coffee, Tea, and Treats"

Around 4:00 PM, six days a week, you are welcomed back from the slopes with coffee and tea, accompanied by a variety of savory and sweet treats. It’s the perfect moment to catch up about the day, share stories, and relax in the snug stube. These cozy afternoon moments are loved by guests – a warm pause between action and evening.

"Dinner Options – Local or Homemade"

In the evening, there are various options, depending on the destination (not included in the price). In many villages, we can reserve a table for you at a nearby restaurant up to 8 weeks before arrival, where you can enjoy local cuisine with Austrian specialties and international dishes. In some chalets, you can even join a meal prepared by our chalet staff – a cozy, homely dinner in the warm atmosphere of the chalet, often with a varied three-course menu. The ideal moment to share the day’s adventures and enjoy a relaxing evening in the mountains.

After dinner, you can unwind with a cup of coffee, a good glass of wine, or a game by the fireplace.

    "More Than Just Skiing"

During the day, you’ll discover the most beautiful ski areas in Austria. Perfectly groomed slopes, modern lifts, and breathtaking views await you. Hikers, cross-country skiers, and those seeking peace will also find happiness here – with countless hiking trails, cross-country tracks, and wellness options nearby.

Back at the chalet, a warm atmosphere awaits, a smile from your host or hostess, and the tranquility you long for.

    2. What is included in the price?

"Your stay in one of our chalets"

A stay in our chalets includes comfort, hospitality, and personal attention – exactly what makes a winter sports or mountain holiday special.

    "Accommodation and catering"

The listed prices are per night and include an extensive breakfast buffet. When you return from the slopes in the afternoon, a cup of coffee or tea will be waiting for you in the cozy stube, often accompanied by a small treat.

Dinner is not included in the overnight price. Depending on the destination, however, there are various options for a delicious dinner. In most villages, we can reserve a table for you at a nearby restaurant, where you can dine à la carte. In some chalets, you can join a meal prepared by our chalet staff, usually consisting of a charming three-course dinner. Please feel free to ask about the possibilities.

After dinner, you can enjoy a cup of coffee or tea in the stube – the perfect end to a relaxing day in the mountains.

    "Host/hostess and service"

In the chalet, one or two carefully selected Châtel hosts or hostesses are present. They ensure that everything runs smoothly during your stay – from breakfast and housekeeping to coffee and tea service – and are ready to help you with any questions about the village, the ski area, or your stay.

The chalet staff live in the chalet, so you are always assured of personal attention and service. One day a week (usually midweek), the chalet staff have time off after breakfast. On this day, there is no afternoon snack and no coffee/tea service in the evening.

    "Bed linen, towels, and cleaning"

Upon arrival in the winter months, your beds will be made and towels (2 per person) will be ready for you. For stays of 5 nights or longer, towels will be replaced halfway through your stay.

In the summer months, you can rent bed linen and towels for a small fee or bring your own.

The listed prices include daily cleaning (except on the staff’s day off), final cleaning, and gas/water/electricity. For the apartments, no further cleaning is provided during your stay.

    "Accessibility"

Your stay is based on self-transport. If you would like information about traveling by plane, bus, or train, we are of course happy to assist you with advice and options.

    "Not included"

The prices are exclusive of: lunch, personal expenses, and drinks outside the arrangement

    • Travel and cancellation insurance

    • Ski passes, ski rental, and ski lessons (if applicable)

    • Tourist tax (varies per destination, on average between €2.50 and €5 per person per day)

    3. Is it possible for the chalet staff to look after our children?

If you wish to go skiing during the day and would like to leave your children with our chalet staff, please check whether the chalet of your choice offers this possibility. If there are no childcare options available in the chalet itself, we will of course look into alternative childcare options elsewhere in the village for you.

In many cases, for example, it is possible for our chalet staff to keep an eye on your children while you dine in a nearby restaurant.

    4. When is the chalet staff’s day off?

One day halfway through the week, our chalet staff has their day off. On this day, breakfast is of course still served, but after that our chalet staff is free.

    5. Are we, as guests, allowed to use the chalet’s kitchen?

Unfortunately, it is not possible to use the kitchen of the chalet, as this is private territory for our chalet staff. However, if you are staying in for the day, it is possible for us to place the coffee maker, kettle, and microwave in the Stube for you, so you can make yourself a cup of coffee or tea or warm a bottle.

    6. Are we, as guests, allowed to have lunch in the chalet?

You will be staying in the chalet on a bed and breakfast basis, which means that lunch and dinner are not included. It is also not permitted to prepare sandwiches from the breakfast buffet to take for lunch. If you would like to have lunch, you can order a packed lunch from our chalet staff, which consists of 2 sandwiches with toppings of your choice, a piece of fruit, and a candy bar. Of course, you are welcome to enjoy the packed lunch in the chalet at lunchtime.

    7. Is there a cot and a high chair available in the chalet?

Each chalet is equipped with 1 cot and 1 high chair. If you wish to use a cot, we kindly ask you to mention this when making your booking. Please note that you are required to bring your own blankets/sheets.

    8. Is there a washing machine in the chalet?

In principle, each chalet has a washing machine; however, it is for the private use of our chalet staff. If you unexpectedly need to wash a single item of clothing, you can always discuss this with the chalet staff on site.

    9. Am I allowed to bring a pet as a guest?

In principle, pets are not allowed. Exceptions can be made for full chalet reservations. For more information, please contact us.

    10. Is there internet in the chalet?

All our chalets have internet (wifi) available. Wifi is free!

    11. Is smoking allowed in the chalets?

Smoking is not allowed anywhere in our chalets.

    12. Is it also possible to book a short ski holiday?

In principle, it is not a problem to book a short ski holiday with us (outside of the holiday weeks). Please note that normally all our packages run from Sunday to Sunday. Of course, it is possible to book a short stay; arrival and departure days are usually Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday. If you are interested, please feel free to call or email us!

    13. Is it also possible to book a chalet without catering?

It is not possible to reserve a chalet without breakfast. It is also not possible to cook in the chalet yourself.

    14. How can a reservation be made?

You can make a reservation by phone, by email, or through our website. Reservations made through our website will always be confirmed to you as soon as possible.

    15. How does the further process proceed after making a reservation?

After making your reservation (this can be done by email/website or by phone), you will receive your reservation confirmation/invoice from us by email. Immediately upon receipt of the reservation confirmation, a deposit of 30% must be paid. The remaining amount of the travel sum must be received by us no later than 6 weeks before departure. If you book less than 6 weeks before departure, the full travel sum must be paid at once.

    16. What are the bank details of Châtel Reizen?

You can transfer your payment to account number NL62 RABO 0330 2914 08 in the name of Châtel Reizen in Lelystad. We kindly ask you to mention the invoice number with your payment. For payments from abroad, you can use the following IBAN and BIC codes:
    IBAN number: NL62 RABO 0330 2914 08
    BIC: RABONL2U

    17. In the case of group bookings, is it possible to send each person a separate invoice?

In principle, it is possible to send an invoice to each participant or each family individually. You can also choose to have us create a single invoice for your group, with each person making their payment to us separately, stating the invoice number. Please feel free to ask about the possibilities.

The package price is the price per person per week based on 2 people sharing a double room with shower/toilet. Children aged 2 to 11 years receive a child discount due to children's menus. Babies up to 1 year old stay for free, provided they share a room with 2 fully paying adults. At some destinations, the chalets have rooms with shower/toilet and rooms without shower/toilet. For rooms without shower/toilet, there is a shared shower/toilet on the floor. If you book a room without shower/toilet, you will receive a discount on the package price based on 2 people sharing a double room.

When reserving an entire chalet, we base the booking on the minimum number of people (as stated in our offer and on our website), for whom the adult package price is charged. If there are children (aged 2 to 11 years) within this minimum number, they receive a discount on dinner, as they are served children's menus. If more people join than the minimum number, we charge an additional fee per person, which varies per chalet. If fewer than the minimum number of people join, you will still pay for the minimum number of people. Babies (aged 0 to 1 year) travel for free (excluding dinners) and are not counted in the total number of participants.

In a number of chalets, one or more single rooms are available. If the chalet does not have a single room, it is sometimes possible to reserve a double room for single use. This is only possible outside the high season and is limited to a maximum of one room per chalet per week. If you would like more information, please contact us.

    18. When will the travel documents be sent?

Approximately 1 week before departure, you will receive your travel documents for your destination by email, provided that your travel sum has been paid in full. Your travel documents consist of an information letter with the latest details about your destination.

    19. What are the arrival and departure times at the chalet?

Your stay begins from 4:00 PM (someone will be present for check-in until around 10:00 PM). Between 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM, our chalet staff is busy cleaning and preparing the chalet to make it fresh and ready for you as our new chalet guest. We kindly but firmly request that you do not arrive earlier. If you would like to go skiing on your arrival day, you can contact the chalet staff in advance by phone, WhatsApp, or SMS to inquire about the possibilities of storing your belongings in the chalet earlier and changing somewhere there.

On the day of departure, you are requested to vacate your room by 10:00 AM. For all (bus) travelers, it is possible to leave your packed luggage in the chalet until late in the afternoon, so you can spend an extra day on the slopes. Please note that changing clothes or showering in the chalet is unfortunately not possible, as the new guests will have already arrived.

    20. Do we, as guests, also receive discounts on ski passes, ski rental, and ski lessons?

Information about equipment rental, lessons, and ski passes, as well as any applicable discounts, will be provided to you in the final information email and/or on site upon arrival by your chalet staff. If you would like information in advance about ski passes, ski rental, or ski lessons, please feel free to contact us.
