The charming mountain village of Grossarl is located in the Salzburger Land and, together with Dorfgastein, forms one of the most popular ski areas in the region: Grossarltal–Dorfgastein. Surrounded by impressive Alpine panoramas, this valley offers everything for a relaxing and sporty winter sports holiday in Austria.
The Grossarl–Dorfgastein ski area is part of the larger Ski amadé, one of the biggest ski regions in Europe. Here you can enjoy around 203 kilometers of slopes, modern lifts, cozy mountain huts, and wide, clearly laid-out descents.
The slopes in the Grossarltal are known for their excellent quality and clarity – ideal for families and recreational skiers. However, there is also plenty of challenge for advanced skiers, with sporty red runs and varied valley descents. Thanks to the connection with Dorfgastein, you can ski all day without taking the same route twice.
The modern Panoramabahn quickly takes you from the valley in Grossarl up the mountain, where you can immediately enjoy spectacular views over the Salzburger Land.
With a single ski pass, the Ski amadé Card, you have access to no less than 760 kilometers of slopes spread over 5 regions and 25 villages, including Grossarl, Dorfgastein, Flachau, Wagrain, Schladming, and Zauchensee.
Ski amadé offers endless possibilities for skiers and snowboarders of all levels. Whether you prefer quiet family routes, freestyle parks, or long day trips, here you can experience a new adventure every day.
Grossarl is also known as the “valley of alpine pastures” because of its many mountain meadows and cozy mountain huts. In winter, the village transforms into an atmospheric winter sports destination with an authentic Austrian feel.
In the evenings, you can enjoy the friendly après-ski, local dishes, and the warm hospitality for which Grossarl is renowned.
The village also offers excellent facilities such as ski schools, rental services, wellness options, and winter hiking trails – ideal for those seeking variety beyond skiing.
Besides skiing, you can enjoy cross-country skiing on the valley trails in Grossarl, walk along groomed paths, or go tobogganing with the whole family. Thanks to its peaceful location and natural surroundings, it is an ideal destination for those who want to avoid the crowds of large ski resorts, yet still have all facilities within easy reach.
