The Zillertal is one of the most diverse and impressive valleys in Austria. Here, everything revolves around the perfect combination of nature, guaranteed snow, and Tyrolean hospitality. The valley stretches from Fügen to the Tuxertal, where the imposing Hintertux Glacier dominates the landscape. In the Zillertal, you can enjoy more than 500 kilometers of slopes, modern lifts, atmospheric villages, and an authentic mountain ambiance that is palpable all year round.
"Zillertal 3000 – skiing at the highest level"
One of the most popular areas within the valley is the Zillertal 3000 ski area, which connects the villages of Mayrhofen, Finkenberg, Tux, Vorderlanersbach, and Lanersbach. With more than 202 kilometers of slopes, this area offers endless possibilities for every winter sports enthusiast.
From wide, gentle descents for families to challenging black runs and off-piste routes – Zillertal 3000 has it all. Experienced skiers can test their skills on the famous Harakiri run, with a gradient of 78%, while snowboarders can enjoy themselves in the Penken Park fun area, one of the best snowparks in Austria.
A special advantage is the direct connection to the Hintertux Glacier, the only ski area in Austria that is open all year round. This makes Zillertal 3000 completely snow-sure – ideal for those who want to ski early or late in the season.
Amidst all this lies the picturesque village of Lanersbach, in the tranquil Tuxertal. The village is small but lively and forms an ideal base for winter sports enthusiasts who love peace, nature, and direct access to the slopes.
"Eggalmbahn opposite"
Opposite Haus Irmgard, the Eggalmbahn departs, taking you in just a few minutes to the heart of the ski area. Here, sunny slopes, cozy mountain restaurants, and panoramic views of the surrounding Alpine peaks await you. In the village itself, you’ll find charming guesthouses, chalets, shops, and restaurants where Tyrolean cuisine takes center stage – from crispy schnitzels to homemade Kaiserschmarrn.
In the afternoon or after skiing, you can enjoy a relaxing après-ski on a terrace or in a cozy bar, where the atmosphere is informal and welcoming.
"The whole Zillertal on one ski pass"
With one large ski pass, you also cover the rest of the Zillertal, a total of 180 lifts and 544 km of slopes. Between all the different villages (including Gerlos, Zell am Ziller, Fügen, and Königsleiten), ski buses run regularly, which you can use for free with your ski pass. You can also travel for free by train from Jenbach to Mayrhofen with it.
